A metal hinge was added by the previous owner to now one of the leaves. We dismantled the previous modifications to restore a leather hinges in the same original manufacture.
Beginning of a restoration of a striped Louis Vuitton trunk
Appeared in 1872, the striped canvas is a particularly fragile patterned canvas. For this restoration, we first had to clean the canvas, and in a second time restore the different leather parts. During the first cleaning, we saw a red circle appear in the center of the facade as well as the marking of two wax seals to the left and to the right of the two locks.
